YULE FEST VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS WEEKEND IN OURAY: December 7, 8, & 9, 2012

Ouray welcomes the holiday season with a long weekend of special events, shopping and winter cheer with Yule Fest, Friday, December 7 through Sunday, December 9. Town will be aglow in decorated windows, twinkling lights and Santa’s chuckles. The weekend features live music at two venues, a wine, chocolate and cheese celebration on Saturday, visits with Santa for the kids and the pets, and great shopping opportunities at local small businesses, many of which are featuring holiday specials and events.

Shoppers have a chance to win a holiday gift certificate courtesy of the Ouray Chamber Resort Association by participating in the Ouray Holiday Scavenger Hunt. A special ornament will be hidden in many Ouray shops, restaurants and businesses. Participating businesses will have glowing luminarias outside their doors. Turn in at least ten “finds” by the end of the weekend to enter a special drawing on December 10.

Mobile Mutts & Meows RV) and head to the Wright Opera House for 2 hours of sitting for Holiday keepsake photos! Elks Santa Visit & Dinner

The Ouray Elks have arranged for children to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at 5:00 pm at the lodge at 421 Main Street. They can tell Santa all about their holiday wishes and have their pictures taken. Afterward, the whole family can enjoy a chili supper starting at 5:15 at the lodge, with chili, cornbread, salad, dessert and beverage for just $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 – 10. Kids under 5 eat for free! The Elks will also have hot dogs and chips if the kids don’t want chili!

Wine, Chocolate & Cheese Fest

A delicious annual festival, proceeds will benefit the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership. Sample small batch Colorado wines, chocolates & cheeses. New offerings this year include distilled liquors and local arts and crafts. Products will available to purchase by the bottle.

Theme: Home for the Holidays, costume contest for the most festive costume, vote for your favorite vendors. Live music by bluegrass band, Alternate Route.
