Amphitheater Campground

Beautiful US Forest Service Campground operated and maintained by Recreation Resource Management of America, Inc. This hosted Campground offers both reservable and first-come, first-serve sites.

Amphitheater CG is located on the side of the mountain above the town of Ouray, Colorado at an elevation of about 8,400 ft. It is tightly designed with loops and camping spurs among Gamble oaks and mixed conifers. There is a scenic overlook in the campground of Ouray and the "Ampthitheater," which was formed by a volcanic explosion. Firewood is available for a fee. The campground is best suited for tenters, but RV'rs can utilize sites 3 through 15. Total RV length should not exceed 35 feet.
