San Juan Hut Systems

Our 16 by 16-foot wooden backcountry huts provide all of the comforts of home so you can travel light. Inside you'll find eight padded bunks, propane-fueled lamps and cookstoves, woodstove, all cooking utensils, and water and/or snowmelt water capability. During summer our huts are a welcome site after hiking, running or biking to and between huts.

We offer more than 60 miles of Nordic trails during winter linking our hut system throughout the serene Southwestern winter. Huts can be accessed for mellow, site-seeing ski touring, or for couloir skiing off of the high Mount Sneffel's summits. The San Juan Mountains present tremendous snow quality and first descent possibilities.

For those looking for a mightier adventure, visit us during summer and ride our two 215 mile mountain bike routes through Colorado and Utah for a premium minimalist experience for the do-it-yourself adventurer. Whether you are looking for technical single track or scenic dirt roads we have an option for you. Choose a six night/seven day or four night/five day trip, we'll take the weight out of bike touring by offering fully stocked huts and minimal route finding challenges.
