Ouray Mountain Rescue

Ouray Mountain Rescue The Ouray Mountain Rescue Team was formed in 1974 to serve the technical rescue and emergency medical service needs
of Ouray County and the surrounding mountain communities of southwestern Colorado. After 25 years, our mantra remains
"Anyone, anywhere, any time". Our primary goal is to maintain a ready capability to carry out humanitarian search, rescue
and recovery operations in mountainous terrain, under all climatic conditions, and in any other situations compatible with
Team capabilities.

The Ouray Mountain Rescue Team was incorporated as a non-profit organization and is made up entirely of volunteers from
the surrounding community. All active members of the Ouray Mountain Rescue Team are available 24/7 for call-outs that range
from high and low angle rescues, swift water emergencies, searches, and mutual aid to neighboring counties. The Team holds
general membership meetings the second Wednesday of each month, proceeded by a scenario-based training session the following
Saturday. Members also participate in ad-hoc training sessions, and represent the team at a number of community events.

All of our financial support comes from fund raising events, merchandise sales, donations, and grants. Our most significant fund
raising event of the year is our annual Fourth of July breakfast held at the Ouray Community Center. The doors open early, and this
is a great way to kick off your Fourth of July celebrating in Ouray. Be sure to look for us at a number of other annual events
in Ouray as well.
