Light Up Ouray Night
Wednesday, November 26, 5 PM
Join us for the first night of holiday light season, where the City, local businesses and residents turn on their holiday lights for the first time across town. Come to town, do some pre-Thanksgiving shopping and enjoy the holiday glow! If you're a local resident or business, make sure to have your holiday lights up! The annual holiday lighting competition kicks off on the 26th and will be judged between December 4-6. Prizes this year include: $100, $75, $25 for first through third in the commercial and residential categories, sponsored by Alpine Bank of Ouray. Repeat winners are permitted! Winners will be announced at the Wine, Chocolate and Cheese Fest on December 13.

"Advanced Style" - Movie at the Wright

Be there for the businesses that are there for you and make an impact in our community! The day starts with a community breakfast at Cavallo's Restaurant from 9-11 AM. Spend the day shopping, soaking at the pool, or just enjoying the lovely early winter scenery.
The day ends with a Community Tree Lighting at 7 PM on the corner of 7th Avenue & Main Street in Ouray. Join us for hot chocolate and bring your smart phone for some caroling before heading off for a delicious dinner in town. The Mr. Grumpy Brewing Pants Company next door will have hot cider for purchase as well.

"Pretty Faces" Premiere

The Wright Opera House offers up some ski inspiration with the premier of the film "Pretty Faces" presented by San Juan Mountain Guides & Friends of the San Juans. "Pretty Faces" is a film celebrating women who thrive in the snow. All proceeds will be donated to Friends of the San Juans, a non-profit committed to committed to providing avalanche awareness and education for winter backcountry users in the San Juan Mountains. This is an all ages event with free submission for children 10 yrs. & younger and raffle prizes. Tickets $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

The eighth annual all-you-can-eat pasta bar where local chefs cook up your delicious meal. Pick up holiday treats at the bake sale and support a silent auction of chairs decorated by elementary school students. $10 Adults, $5 Seniors and kids under 12, $30 per family. Proceeds benefit the Ouray School to purchase ipads for the elementary classrooms and the Parents and Teachers Together General fund.

It's a Wonderful Life tells the story of George Bailey's struggle with the weight of responsibility to his community in this heartwarming holiday tale. Complete with a guardian angel, an evil banker, and a town full of well-meaning citizens who ultimately rescue George from his predicament, this story illuminates the profound impact one soul can have on the world. This production, a live radio drama, is a unique form of audio storytelling which relies on dialogue, music and sound effects to enable the audience to visualize the story. Radio drama was initially developed during the 1920's, losing some of its popularity in the United States when television became popular in the 1950's. Radio drama broadcast on the BBC continues to enjoy popularity. We hope that you enjoy this radio adaption. Tickets: $10 adults, $5 kids. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

In collaboration with the Crested Butte Film Festival, the Sherbino Theater presents a monthly film series featuring a powerful line up of diverse and inspiring films including audience favorites and new independent cinematic masterpieces. Enjoy three days of whimsical fun in the snow in and around Ouray. Events include an Ugly Sweater & Pull Up Contest on Monday, December 29, at 3 PM in the Ouray Ice Park, a Cross Country Crawl at Noon on Tuesday, December 30 at the Ironton Nordic Ski Area, and an always popular BroomBall match on Wednesday, December 31 at the Ouray Rotary Park Ice Rink.

New Year's Eve Meals & Parties
Most restaurants open regular hours. Special New Year’s Eve dinners at the Beaumont, Cavallo’s, Bon Ton & Outlaw (RSVPs required). Ring in the New Year with parties at O’Brien’s Pub, the Ouray Elks Lodge and on Main Street, where fireworks boom above the canyon walls at midnight. On New Year’s Day, enjoy a special brunch at Cavallo’s and dinner at the Outlaw.

Kids’ Climbing College
Saturday, January 3
Celebrate ice season and get let your kids experience the our favorite local winter sport (you’ll get your chance at the 20th annual Ouray Ice Fest next week). Kids ages 7-17 get a free opportunity to try the exciting sport of ice climbing. The Kids’ Wall is a specially developed 40 ft high, 140 foot wide slab of ice located on top of the ice park with easy walking access. It features a dozen different routes with various levels of difficulty for all the kids. The Kids’ Climbing College is free, first-come-first-serve. San Juan Mountain Guides will provide harnesses, helmets, boots, crampons, and ice tools. Participants should bring: an adult to sign paperwork, warm clothes, gloves, and warm hat (ski clothes work well for climbing). Participant’s families should park in the designated Ice Park Parking areas and walk up to the Kids Wall.

20th Annual Ouray Ice Festival

The Biggest Ice Festival in North America returns to Ouray to celebrate its 20th anniversary! For the past nineteen years the Ouray Ice Festival has been the world’s premier ice climbing event. This annual gathering is attended by ice climbers from around the world, as well as industry sponsors, inspiring speakers, and the world’s top exhibition climbers. Festival events are held in and around the Ouray Ice Park, located in the Uncompahgre Gorge in Ouray, Colorado, as well as various other venues around town. The event is staffed by the Park’s board of directors, its professional staff, and a cadre of over 200 dedicated volunteers. The festival is the primary fundraiser for Park maintenance and operations. The industry leaders that sponsor the festival not only support the Park itself, but also gain access to a passionate audience of over 3,000 outdoor enthusiasts.
