Bike Epic Mountain Passes & Explore The RAT
Adventures on Two Wheels
When you’re packing for Ouray, don’t forget your bike!
Road cyclists across Colorado already know of the challenge and beauty that waits for you on our scenic mountain passes and county roads. Wide, gentle valleys give way to switchbacks and high summits with new views and fast descents on the other side. Dirt county roads offer less-traveled scenic alternatives for nubbier tires and often come with the added benefit of bucolic ranches with cows, sheep, deer, elk, bighorn sheep, llamas and even yaks!

Our mountain bike system continues to grow. In the past, mountain bikers loved the challenge of the remote, high country single track along the Dallas Trail. With the development of the RAT – the Ridgway Area Trail system, Ouray County now offers mountain bikers of all skill levels an interconnected series of professionally-designed trails that is 20 miles long and growing. You can easily ride from downtown Ridgway to the trails and to Ridgway State Park along a scenic pedestrian and bike trail along the Uncompahgre River.
With a new bike shop, shuttle opportunities and rentals in nearby Ridgway, you can easily plan for a car-free vacation. Ouray and Ridgway are both bike-friendly towns, and they’re a great way to visit the local attractions.
